Kara Khan is a Philadelphia-based artist working in alternative and historic process photography, bookmaking, and fiber art. She takes a research-based approach to her work which is rooted in collaboration, experimentation, and direct action. Artist Bio:
Kara Khan is a Philadelphia based photographer and artist working with alternative and historical processes, book making, and fibers. Her research based practice is rooted in collaboration, experimentation, and direct action.
For the last decade, she has run Pop Up Polaroid, a Polaroid Photo Booth and 8x10 portrait studio, where she has shared the magic of instant photography through her work at events and workshops in Philadelphia and beyond. As a teaching artist she has shared the value of historic and alternative process through workshops and demonstrations at schools, art institutions, and out of her studio.
Her work has been shown locally, nationally and published in the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Magazine, among others.
