Light talk with Cole Caswell
Through the use of the wet plate collodion process, Cole Caswell researches the remnants and patterns in the landscape that reflect contemporary strategies for survival. His project “Rise” explores coastal areas in his home state of Maine that are projected to be lost to sea level rise by the turn of the century, and in “Source,” he encourages aberrations in the emulsion as the source of our planet’s light -- the sun -- reveals subtleties in the landscape. Cole will talk about these and other bodies of his work. A Q& A will follow Cole’s presentation.
