Discover one of the earliest photographic printing processes, the cyanotype process.
The light-sensitive cyanotype solution is brushed onto the surface, upon which translucent drawings, negatives or objects are placed during exposure to ultraviolet light. Make one-of-a-kind prints on a variety of surfaces such as artist papers and fabrics. The resulting rich Prussian blue images are a unique combination of photography and printmaking. We will also explore altering the color and adding color with toning and a brief introduction to gum bichromate. Come with ideas and be prepared for experimental exploration. This workshop does not require any darkroom or Photoshop experience.
*Students have the option of providing The Halide Project with digital files up to 5”x7” in size to be printed as digital negatives. Six negatives will cost $30, and there will be an add-on option at check-out.
